The four things to know first
Company registration
The basics of registering a Pty Ltd with us.
Can I register any type of business?
We specialise in Private Company (Pty) Ltd registrations, the most common business structure in South Africa. If you’re thinking about something else, talk to us and we’ll point you the right way.
What if my company name is not available?
We check name availability as part of our service and suggest alternatives if needed. That’s why the application asks for a preferred name and at least one backup.
Can I be the only director and shareholder?
Yes. A Pty Ltd can have one director, who can also own all of the shares. In the application, choose one director and give them 100%.
Do I need a business address?
No. Your home address works if you don’t have a business address.
CIPC
Who CIPC is, and what we do with them.
What is CIPC?
CIPC is the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, the government body that registers companies in South Africa. We prepare your application and submit it to CIPC on your behalf.
Can I register directly with CIPC myself?
Yes, and CIPC’s own fee is lower than our price. Our service is for people who want the paperwork prepared, checked, filed and followed up for them. See the honest comparison.
Do you guarantee how fast CIPC will be?
No. We work closely with CIPC to get your company registered as quickly as possible, but we can’t guarantee government processing times. Our Terms say so plainly.
Pricing
What you pay and what it covers.
What does the R850 fee include?
CIPC registration fees, Memorandum of Incorporation, company name reservation, tax registration number, share certificates and all necessary documentation. See the full list.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees. The only additional costs might be certified copies of documents or expedited courier services. We tell you about any extra cost up front.
What do your other services cost?
Beneficial Ownership filing is R590 and Central Supplier Database registration is R790. Other services, like annual returns and VAT registration, are coming soon. See all services.
Documents
What to have ready.
What documents do I need to provide?
A certified copy of each director’s ID. You fill in the registration details in our online application, so there are no forms to download or complete by hand.
What is a certified copy?
A photocopy that a police station or commissioner of oaths has stamped as a true copy of the original. Getting your ID copies certified isn’t part of our service.
What will I receive when my company is registered?
Your Certificate of Incorporation, MOI, share certificates and tax registration number, delivered digitally.
Directors & shareholders
People, shares and ownership.
How many directors can I add?
As many as your company needs. The application asks for each director’s details and a certified ID copy for each one.
How do I split the shares between directors?
In the application you decide what percentage each director owns. The total needs to add up to 100%.
What is Beneficial Ownership?
CIPC needs to know which real people own or control your company. That means anyone who directly or indirectly owns 5% or more, or who exercises effective control. Read the plain-English guide.
Payments & refunds
How you pay, and what our terms say.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept EFT bank transfers, credit cards and debit cards, processed securely.
When do I pay?
Services are paid for in advance, and nothing is processed until full payment is received. In the registration application you pay at the end, after you’ve reviewed everything.
Do you offer refunds?
Refund terms are set out in our Terms & Conditions. In short, once a company registration or application has begun, refunds aren’t available. Read them before you pay.
Turnaround
How long things take.
How long does company registration take?
Company registrations typically take between 3–5 working days. This depends on CIPC’s workload, but we work closely with them to get your business registered as quickly as possible.
How long does a Beneficial Ownership filing take?
Typically 1–3 working days.
How long does Central Supplier Database registration take?
We complete and submit it within 1–3 working days.
Compliance
What your company has to keep doing.
What ongoing compliance is required?
Companies must file annual returns and a Beneficial Ownership declaration with CIPC, and maintain proper accounting records.
Can you help with annual returns?
Annual returns are coming soon as an online service. Until then, call or email us, or read our annual return guide.
How do I handle my personal information and documents?
We only use the information needed to complete your filing and keep it secure in line with POPIA and reasonable business practice. Sensitive documentation is handled privately and only for the purpose of the service requested. Read the Privacy Policy.
After registration
What happens once you’re registered.
What happens after my company is registered?
You’ll receive your Certificate of Incorporation, MOI, share certificates and tax registration number, and can start trading immediately.
Do you help with tax registration?
Yes. Tax registration with SARS is included, and you’ll receive your income tax registration number.
Can you help me open a business bank account?
We don’t open accounts directly, but we provide all the documentation banks require.
Do I need to register on the Central Supplier Database?
If you want to do business with government departments or many public entities, CSD registration is generally required as part of procurement. See how we can help.
